The disaster unfolding in the Gulf is having a broad and varying
impact on millions of people across the country.

Thomas Clements is traveling to Washington, D.C. next week to meet Members of Congress so they can see his “hopelessness” as a result of the moratorium on deepwater drilling and try and understand what it is doing to his friends and family. He is frustrated that the President has implemented the moratorium because his business has “completely stopped” and prevented him from expanding and creating new jobs. In addition, he feels that changes to the tax law will end “the level playing field”, giving foreign oil companies a competitive advantage over American businesses like his, a change that will inevitably lead to major cuts in American jobs.
